Practitioner-only ranges, built for clinics
In short
- Any format, built for supply through clinics and health practitioners, with doses set by the evidence.
- Popular for clinic-only herbal formulas, high-dose minerals and targeted gut health powders.
- The product follows the same rules as any listed medicine: permitted ingredients and their limits, permitted indications, a GMP-licensed manufacturer and a TGO 116 label. What changes is how it is promoted.
- Advertising directed only at health professionals is outside the Advertising Code, and the TGA says the public must not be able to access it.
- From our records: nine products for BWellness, a practitioner-channel brand, and Ora, our founder's own practitioner-recommended range.
What a practitioner range needs
- A formula built on the evidence. The dose follows the clinical research behind each ingredient, within the limits the Permissible Ingredients Determination sets. We build the evidence package with the formula (formulation).
- Claims a practitioner can stand behind. On a listed medicine, every claim is a permitted indication, backed by evidence the sponsor holds (permitted indications).
- Promotion kept to practitioners. Advertising directed only at health professionals, and the others named in section 42AA of the Therapeutic Goods Act, is outside the Advertising Code. But the TGA says "the public must not be able to access advertising meant for health professionals", and a brand's public website and social posts are advertising to the public. More in our advertising guide.
- A range that reorders the same. Each product is specified, stability-tested and made the same way every batch (managed manufacturing).
From our records
- BWellness, a practitioner-channel brand and distributor serving naturopaths and nutritionists across Australia and New Zealand: nine products, including an immune powder built on Wellmune®, an algal omega-3 capsule built on life's®OMEGA with VitaShine™ vegan vitamin D3, a vitamin D product, an adrenal formula and a women's health formula. Five production batches from 2021 to 2025, a sixth order in the pipeline, and an acquisition in 2024 by an ASX-listed company for A$7 million.
- Ora, our founder's own brand: around 19 natural medicines built on clinically studied ingredients, recommended by naturopaths, herbalists and functional medicine practitioners and carried by premium retailers across Australia and New Zealand.
Before Take Friday Off, our founder, Gabriel Perera, ran Phytomedicine & Nutrimedicine and led Blackmores' acquisition of BioCeuticals (about Gabriel).
